The renowned publisher has appointed Ben Brinkman from the creators of Apex Legends to direct the development team at 31st Union, which is currently working on the upcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as this innovative game.
Leadership Transition Comes After Mixed Response
Brinkman steps into the leadership position at the development studio following the exit of former leader the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to the game's underwhelming early showing last fall.
Recently, the company's top executive David Ismailer notified employees about this strategic move through an official communication, which stressed that early feedback sessions had indicated the necessity for a distinct vision.
The president expressed that the developers is now refining the project with a refreshed vision, aiming to address community desires.
A Pattern of Key Recruitment
The news follows a comparable move taken by 2K Games in August, when they brought on an industry veteran from Blizzard to contribute to the BioShock development group.
Below is the entire text from Ismailer's communication:
Hello Everyone—
I know you all just completed your gathering - I hope you’re as thrilled as I am with the good news. Last time I shared you all a note, I stated the following: “I am confident in this crew. You all are some of the most motivated and talented designers we have had the pleasure to collaborate with - and we’re eager for that collaboration to persist.”
Given your hard work and adaptability, especially over the last year, you repeatedly show that.
The community feedback from last fall’s Project ETHOS playtest was revealing. It confirmed the promise of a roguelike shooter but told us we still had work to do. It highlighted the requirement for a clearer identity.
It’s been inspiring to see how far you’ve advanced. You embraced the input to heart and overhauled Project ETHOS with a refreshed vision - one that’s ready to fulfill its potential to our fans.
The trust in this project increases every day. To boost the incredible advancement you’ve made, It is a pleasure to introduce Ben Brinkman as the latest Lead of the team. Following some time of conversations, Ben starts with us on Monday, October 20.
Ben’s management and experience in the PVP shooter field is considerable, having dedicated the last 15 years creating and overseeing some of the most recognizable franchises in gaming, such as the acclaimed shooter, and lately, Apex Legends.
Please join me in welcoming him soon. We are all excited to continue witnessing the progress of the game in the weeks to ahead.
David

Title Details and Vision
The upcoming game was revealed in last year alongside a public demo. Then, 31st Union portrayed the title as a "free-to-play, third-person perspective action-packed experience and an exciting step forward on the style."
"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Customize your character in live gameplay to fit your unique tactics," the game's pitch reads. "Take on the competition with fresh skills, risks, and challenges that change every match. Will you safely extract with your collected items? Or take a risk, put it on the line, and pray your group can achieve the highest spot? The choice is in your hands."
The game does not have an official debut schedule or consoles, but players can look forward to additional details as creation advances.
